Greenwich Park Run - Friday, September 19, 2008 If anyone fancies a change of scenery, Sunday 28th Sept Mick Boddy will be doing a run around Greenwich park. "If we aim to meet about 9:30 am outside the café we can take it from there, roughly 1 1/2 hours of training. If people want to bring the family the kids can ride their bikes safely, or some people can just go for a walk. Then we can all have a coffee afterwards. Parking is for £1 per hour or you can park outside for nothing on Sundays." If anyone has any queries they can contact Mick. Sounds like fun!

Winter Training Dates - Tuesday, September 16, 2008Hi Everyone,
A quick heads up with the dates for Wednesday night training for the winter.
We are back at the school hall from1st October to 25th March. The Christmas break is between 17th Dec to 7th Jan, and will also be closed at half term. Alternate adult training will be organised on those dates.
We have the hall from 5.30 til 8.00pm. However adult sessions will be finishing at 7.30 to allow those with children to pick them up. The extra half hour is to allow for warm down etc.
A reminder that the EGM is on the 8th October after training.
And finally anyone who has children going to the 5.30 session please let me know if you want some training and I will gladly work some sessions out for you.

Eridge Park 10M Results - Tuesday, September 16, 2008 Congratulations to everyone who completed the Eridge Park 10M. The individual results have been added and as this was a GP race the GP results have also been updated (well done Brian & Caroline). Also we had team entries which were as follows: Elite Males (Brian, Mick, Steve) 9th; 2nd Male team (Malcolm, Peter, Chris) 23rd. Elite Females (Jane, Caroline, Michelle) 5th; 2nd Females (Lorraine, Jackie, Emma) 15th.

Notice of EGM - Wednesday evening 8th. October at 7.40 pm - Thursday, August 21, 2008Will members please note that an EGM will be held on Wednesday evening 8th. October at 7.40 pm (following the training session ) at Swanley School.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider a new set of rules put forward by a working group set up by the AGM last year.
Please download and consider the proposed new rules before the meeting, in order to save time on the evening. The proposed new rules have the full support of the committee.

GPS Route Maps - Sunday, July 13, 2008Portable gps devices are becoming more and more common place. There is even one in my new phone! Many of these devices have an export facility which will export the data from a walk or run into a file that I can turn in to a map and display on this website for other users to see and use.

Change to organised walk on 27th July 08 - Sunday, July 06, 2008The walk proposed on Sunday 27th July will start from the car park in Otford opposite "The bull" public house, at say around 10:30am. Six and ten mile walk options are available, or shorter (1-3) if required. I would suggest that the people who wish to walk the further distance , can stop at a pub for lunch. if they wish. AWARD FOR ONE OF OUR JUNIORS - Saturday, July 05, 2008
Stephen Sawyer one of our junior members was awarded the Try Angle Trophy for Personal Achievement in Sport at the award ceremony in the Alexander Suite, Swanley on Thursday evening 3rd. July. These awards are presented by the Sevenoaks & Tunbridge Wells Youth Service, and the nomination was made by Della Jeffery.
Stephen has been with our youth group for the last two years and inspite of his handicap has made considerable progress in jumping, throwing, and running.

Olivia's Eltham Run - Thursday, June 12, 2008 Well done to Olivia Willard (9 years old) who ran the Eltham 3.5K race on Sunday and she did it in 19min 22 secs (beating her mum!), was the 4th girl finisher and placed 35th out of 54 runners.

Swanley Park Relay (prevously Gala Relay) - Thursday, June 05, 2008The Swanley Park Relays (previously the Gala Relays) are on Wednesday 2nd. July.
in Swanley Park.
The under 14 year teams start at 6.30pm and the over 16's and seniors start at 7.15pm.
Juniors wishing to run should speak to Jayne or Della, others wanting to take part in a team should speak to Mike. We will also need some assistance with the event for members not wishing to run on the evening. The distances are 4 by half mile for under 14, and 4 by 1 mile all other teams.
Teams are male, female and mixed.

Sam's Marathon stitches - Thursday, May 29, 2008 Well done to Sam Goulter for showing such determination in the Edinburgh marathon. Sam fell after tripping over a traffic cone and landed on her face. She was advised not to carry on but showed great spirit and continued on to complete the race. Afterwards she had to have stitches in her chin! Well done to Melanie as well for finishing with Sam.

Kent Young Athletes League - Tuesday, April 22, 2008The Swanley Juniors enjoyed their first taste of summer athletics as they competed in the Kent Young Athletes League at the weekend. For most, this was their first experience of a track and field match and although the squad was small, we managed to cover a number of events. In the U15 girls, Zipporah Lewis and Harley Allen both had busy afternoons, competing in the 100, 200 and long jump with good performances in all events. Rebecca Wilby was very unfortunate in the 1500 when another athlete caught her foot, forcing her to drop out. In the U13 girls, Keilah Lewis ran in the 150m and competed in the javelin, recording a respectable distance, especially bearing in mind she has only thrown foam javelins up to now – Chloe Willats also ran a very good race in the 1000m. We also had two U11 boys, Lewis Allen and Jack Willats competing as guests in the 80m sprint.

Peter Godbee's 25 by 250 - Thursday, April 17, 2008Congratulations to Peter Godbee as he has by completing this year's London Marathon now completed his 250th race and 25th Marathon for the club. Peter that well known king of hills and endurance hardman has also shown his softer side by raising £1,266.20 for St Christophers Hospice in the London Marthon this year - well done Peter.

Results added for Cranleigh 21 and also the Sevenoaks Rotary 10k. Swanley juniors also did the Sevenoaks junior event - Olivia Willard came 3rd in 9.01 and Callum Boddy came in 4th with a time of 9.45 (a PB for him)

Junior Competition at Whiteoak's - 9/3/08 - Monday, March 10, 200814 junior members turned out this Sunday to represent the club at the Sportshall competition held at Whiteoak leisure Centre in Swanley. We had 2 teams in the under 11 category one female team in the under 13 and 2 boys in the under 13. They all did well. The under 13 girls team came 2nd overall with a fantastic performance from Zipproah Lewis who finished in 1st place in the vertical jump. The 2 boys teamed up with 2 from Paddock Wood which then put them in 2nd place overall. A great performance from Stuart Jeffery finishing 4th overall in the Standing Triple jump considering he has only tried it once before. All the under 11s done well for some this was the first time that had taken part in something like this. Quite daunting for them.
Overall they all worked hard throughout the afternoon and were a credit to our club. Well done to all that took part. A big Thank you to all the parents and David Coates that were there to help me get the children to the correct places at the right times.
